This guide covers setup, daily care and troubleshooting for the Sovelivee XYSJ09 3.5 L cat water fountain. Use the sections below to install your fountain, clean the pump, replace a filter or check a water-flow problem.

Before you start: Disconnect power before assembly, refilling, disassembly or cleaning. Soak each new filter in a separate container of clean drinking water for 3–5 minutes, then rinse before installation. Do not soak it in the fountain tank. Fill the tank between MIN and MAX before connecting power.

Identify your XYSJ09 fountain

- Capacity: 3.5 L.
- Tank and drinking tray: 304 stainless steel.
- Power supply: USB, DC 5 V. Use the supplied power adapter.
The main parts are the faucet spout, drinking tray, filter cartridge, pump, water tank and water-level window. The pump sponge fits over the pump inlet and is a different part from the filter cartridge.
What is included?
The package includes the fountain, cleaning brush, faucet adapter, bubbling water outlet, faucet spout, pump with hose, power adapter and user manual. The faucet adapter is the outlet fitting; the power adapter supplies electricity.
Filter quantity varies by package and includes the pre-installed filter. Check your order details for the total supplied with your fountain.

Set up your XYSJ09 fountain
Before assembly
Disconnect power and place the fountain on a flat, stable indoor surface. Before first use, rinse the tank, tray, faucet spout, bubbling outlet, faucet adapter and filter holder with clean water.
- Keep your hands, power adapter, plug and USB connector dry. Only the pump and the cable section designed for use inside the tank may be submerged.
- Keep water between MIN and MAX. Never run the pump without water, even with low-water protection.
- Supervise children near the fountain.
- Stop use if the cable, connector, power adapter or pump is damaged. Contact support; do not repair electrical parts yourself.
1. Connect the pump
Rinse a new pump sponge with clean water and fit it over the inlet. Connect the pump outlet to the hose beneath the drinking tray.
2. Prepare and install the filter
For the XYSJ09, soak each new filter in a separate container of clean drinking water for 3–5 minutes, then rinse. Do not soak it in the fountain tank. Fit the filter in its holder and close the cover. The pump sponge only needs rinsing; do not apply the cartridge soaking procedure to it.
3. Choose the water outlet
Choose A, the faucet spout with its adapter, or B, the bubbling outlet. For B, remove both the faucet spout and the faucet adapter. Check the fit before reconnecting power. Always disconnect power before changing outlets.
4. Fill the tank and fit the tray
Fill with fresh drinking water between MIN and MAX; do not exceed MAX. Fit the drinking tray securely on the tank.
5. Connect power
With dry hands, connect the USB cable to the supplied power adapter, then plug the adapter into a power outlet.
6. Check circulation
Check that water circulates normally. Never run the pump dry. If water does not flow, disconnect power and follow the XYSJ09 troubleshooting checks.

Current filter preparation: At about 0:20, the video shows an older instruction to soak the filter for 1 minute. For the XYSJ09, soak each new filter in a separate container of clean drinking water for 3–5 minutes, then rinse before installation. Do not soak the filter in the fountain tank.

Daily use and indicator lights
Check the XYSJ09 water level and cleanliness every day. Refill or change the water as needed, and remove hair or debris. Disconnect power before refilling. A daily check does not mean that the water must always be changed daily.
What do the blue and red lights mean?
Blue means normal operation. Red means low water. The pump stops when the water falls below its sensor. Disconnect power, refill between MIN and MAX, then reconnect. Low-water protection does not replace daily checks or allow the pump to run dry.
Cleaning and maintenance
Disconnect power before cleaning any part of the fountain. Use the following schedule as a starting point and clean sooner when needed.

How do I clean the XYSJ09 pump?
- Disconnect power. Remove the pump, sponge and inlet cover.
- Remove the impeller cover and carefully pull out the impeller. Do not open the sealed pump body.
- Clean the inlet, impeller and chamber with clean water and a soft brush. Rinse the sponge; replace it if damaged.
- Reassemble the parts in reverse order and refit the sponge. Rinse any new sponge with clean water before fitting it. Fill the tank before reconnecting power.
Replace the filter cartridge
The XYSJ09 manual recommends replacing the cartridge every 2–4 weeks, with a more frequent 1–2-week interval also suggested. Adjust to water quality, the number of pets and filter condition. Replace sooner if dirty or odorous; the interval is not a fixed service-life guarantee.
- Disconnect power before opening the fountain and removing the used cartridge.
- Prepare the new cartridge using the 3–5-minute separate-container soak and rinse procedure.
- Fit the cartridge securely in its holder and close the cover.
- Check the water level and assembly before reconnecting power.
The cartridge and pump sponge have different care requirements. Rinse the sponge with clean water and replace it if damaged.
Troubleshoot your XYSJ09 fountain
Disconnect power before carrying out these checks. Reassemble the fountain and check that water is between MIN and MAX before reconnecting.
Red light or low water
Disconnect power, refill between MIN and MAX, then reconnect.
No water flow at a normal water level
With power disconnected, check the USB connection and supplied power adapter. Clean the pump inlet and impeller, then reassemble and check the water level before reconnecting. If there is still no flow, contact support.
Weak water flow
Disconnect power. Check the hose connection and filter position, and clear blockages from the pump. Soak and rinse every new filter before use.
Unusual noise
Disconnect power. Check the water level and hose connection, then remove debris from the pump and impeller.
Slime, odor or dirty water
Disconnect power and discard the water. Wash and rinse the tank and tray, clean the pump and rinse its sponge. Replace a dirty filter cartridge or damaged sponge, then refill with fresh drinking water.
If the problem persists or returns after these checks, stop using the fountain and contact Sovelivee support.
Compatible filters and parts
The recommended replacement cartridge for the XYSJ09 is the Sovelivee SL-PFF KDF filter, measuring 95 × 41 × 10 mm (length × width × thickness). This cartridge is separate from the sponge fitted over the pump inlet.
